Cornwall

The oh-so-English countryside? It dawned on me early on during our daily forays from Falmouth into the Cornish landscape, dipping and diving between hedgerows and stone walls, through leafy glades and within inches of mossy barns and farmhouses just how much English literature, TV and movies have buried themselves into my subconcious - it all looked so familiar, yet i'd never been here before.

Arrr...there be plenty of worthwhile jaunts to be undertaken (i picked up a bit of a pirate accent from the ambience). There's Lands End, Mousehole (pronounced Mao-zle of course), Marazion & St Michael's Mount, Port Isaacs - well known through its role as Portwenn in the TV series Doc Martin, Penzance (sans pirates) and Padstow amongst others.

Hedgerows, stone fences & cottages, seasides & coves. No pirates.
